The idea that wolves mate for life has been a controversial one for years. Some have argued that they mate for only one period of time. Others have suggested that the males have to mate with multiple females to survive. There are also those who believe that males have to mate with their mates at least once a year to increase their chances of mating.
This is a very complicated subject. Let’s just say for the sake of the discussion that I think that the “one-time-a-year” theory is a complete non-starter. There are also those who feel that a male must mate with his mate within the first year of their relationship, because as you’ve probably guessed, it means that a female has to be pregnant before she can mate with her mate.
Well, yes and no. Many biologists believe that as a male, your chances of mating greatly increase if your mate is carrying your sperm, but you can only have so many of them. The reason being that sperm are just that good. They are like oil, and if they sit in water they can stay there for a long time. The more sperm you carry the higher your chances of having a fertile baby.
This is not the case for mammals (including humans) though, which are sexually monogamous. This is because a male and female can share their genes, but only the male can fertilise his mate. A female can have as many as 30 to 40 sperm (depending on the species) stored in her ovaries. If a female is fertile she can fertilise up to 10 times a day, and has the ability to reproduce almost immediately after the egg is laid.
While most mammals are monogamous, this isn’t the case for wolves. Males sometimes have to fight to have sex with a female, whereas only some males have to fight to become the father of their mate. So while a female can potentially have many children, her chances of having a successful one decrease greatly after one or two children.
The reason for this is because the offspring of a male wolf can only be a certain size, and if they grow too large, they can be killed by a fox, with the result of their offspring being a large, useless husk. That’s why wolf cubs are often born with large horns that prevent them from being killed by a fox. It also means that male wolves don’t have to fight for reproduction as much as females do, and females can have as many children as they want.
This is good news for the wolf breeding industry. The wolf population is in big trouble, and the reason why is that with the decline of the domestic dog population, the wolf population is in a similar state. The domestic dog is the wolf’s closest living relative, so it is also in trouble. Wolves are also the only animals that can survive the most extreme climate changes, and their ability to survive this is why they are so common in colder parts of the US.
There is some good news. Wolves were once the most common animal in the US, and they are still the only ones that live in what is known as the old range. This means that even though they are now in the most difficult situation, they are still able to hunt and survive in the most extreme places. In fact, it’s not just the wolves that are in trouble, but most of the other species as a whole.
The situation for the big bad wolf population is worse than for any single species, because with the population in decline, many small populations are also struggling for survival. Wolves as a whole are going to be killed off by hunting, and this is a major threat to their existence.
For those who are in the top 1% of the population, this can be a difficult situation, but the ones in the top 10% of the population can also be in this situation. There is a reason why the top 10% of the population can survive and thrive: They are, and always have been, the best.
